Francis Connair ⁶³⁹

  Noted events in his life were:

• Military Service: Staff Sergeant, 29th Regiment of Foot, Cir 1850, Fort William, Calcutta, India. ⁶³⁹ Was based at Fort William (as a Staff Sergeant) at the time of his daughter, Ann Connare's birth 24/09/1850. The regiment arrived in India in 1842 and was heavily deployed in the Anglo-Sikh wars of 1846. It is fairly likely that Francis was part of the Regiment throughout this period.

Francis married Betsy E. E. Holmes on 24 Sep 1849 in India Office Ecclesiastical Returns-Bengal Presidency, India.¹¹⁶
