Initial history of Robert Grieves from son, Neville.
He was supposedly about one or two years older than Olga Hubbard, his wife. The family story was that Robert's family came from Stirling, in Scotland (we later discovered that the scottish link was much earlier - George Grieves, prison task master and later deputy governor of Knutsford prison - who had been born in the late 1770s. Could this be from Stirling?
Robert was born at Great Crosby near Liverpool.
The family was "not without a bit of money" (comparitively) - from some type of business.
Robert and Olga married in a July (Olga later recalled this to be "the worst day of my life"!)
He was an Electrical Goods Sales representative. He may well have met Olga Hubbard, his wife to be, in this capacity, since she was a shop assistant in several places during the depression including, Blackpool, Nottingham and Bolton, with some of her time being spent in the Electrical Sales department.

Robert married Olga Hubbard, daughter of Ernest Victor Emmanuel Hubbard and Solino Sumner, in Jul 1937 in Bolton, Lancashire..59 (Olga Hubbard was born on 22 Mar 1907 in Moses Gate, Bolton, Lancashire,60 died in Jan 1980 in Pole Bank Hall, Gee Cross, Hyde, Cheshire 61,62 and was buried in Jan 1980 in Hyde Cemetery, Hyde, Cheshire 7.)
